"45 Lazy Eye Exercises" Book Review

Do you know a child that has lazy eye or are you affected by lazy eye? Amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye”, is a known eye problem that is discovered in millions of children every year. This condition causes the brain to minimize the use of one particular eye over another. This will cause vision in one eye to be significantly greater than the vision available in the other eye.

When a person has lazy eye, then the eye muscles within the affected eye are not as strong because it is being used less and less. The most common method of treatment for lazy eye is through the use of eye patching.

Eye patching helps to regain vision in the lazy eye and help to stimulate your brain to begin to use both eyes together again. The major cause of lazy eye is unknown. Yet, eye patching still remains a viable treatment for this condition. Eye patches can be worn for a varied length of time depending on the doctor’s recommendation. It can be anywhere from a couple of hours a day to eight to ten hours a day.

To assist with regaining vision in the needed eye, many optometrists recommend performing nearsighted activities while wearing the eye patch. Near sighted exercises are things that you can do to are in close proximity to your eye that will stimulate the eye more. Getting a toddler or a young child to wear an eye patch can be very challenging because wearing a patch feels very unnatural and causes them to use the eye where vision is not clear. However, the key to helping your child enjoy patching time is by finding exercises that your child can enjoy doing during patch time that can also be effective.

45 Lazy Eye Exercises is a book that was written to provide sample activities that can be performed during eye patching. These are common exercises that you or your child can do that are fun while they assist in working the affected eye.

This 70 page book is written by a parent of a child with amblyopia for other parents and friends and family of those who suffer with amblyopia. At the beginning of the book is an introduction written by the author that provides background information on amblyopia.

The author then provides tips on how to make patching time more effective and enjoyable for your child. The author then concludes with the 45 sample activities that can be done during eye patching. These are written in simple easy to follow instructions.

45 Lazy Eye Exercises is a must have for parents and those people who suffer from amblyopia.

  2. Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, is a vision development disorder in which an eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity, even with prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses. Arizona eye care informed the public that amblyopia begins during infancy and early childhood. In most cases, only one eye is affected. However, in some cases, reduced visual acuity can occur in both eyes. If lazy eye is detected early in life and promptly treated, reduced vision can be avoided. If left untreated, lazy eye can cause severe visual disability in the affected eye, including legal blindness.
